Can't Access Workgroup Shares after XP Repaire reinstall

G

GoCoogs

I repaired XP by doing a repair install on my computer (MyPC) and now I
can't see my workgroups computers. I am on the same workgroup they are
but I can't access their shared folders. There is a computer on the
workgroup named A64. Start > Run > \\A64 returns \\A64 not found. If
right click My Computer > Properties > Computer Name the Workgroup
field is the same for both MyPC and A64. I can connect to the internet
with MyPC so it seems that at least some of the network is properly
configured and other computers on the workgroup can access each other's
shares. Any ideas?

try to use net view \\a64 command. if you receive system error 53, this could be the name resolution issue. Try to enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP.

troubleshooting is not accessible error "System Error 53 has occurred". Troubleshooting step by step:. A. Is a firewall blocking the LAN traffic? ... Net view will tell it - System error 53. ...
