I have a Win2KPro Workstation w/ HP printer attached. I
have a Sony Vaio Laptop w/ XP Home. Workgroup is mshome,
user on w2kpro box is administrator, user on xp box is
user w/ admin priv. when I try to connect xp to w2k, I
get message that states:"logon failure: the user has not
been granted the requested logon type at this computer"

This should not be "brain surgery", why does it not work?
I have reformatted BOTH PC's, downloaded all updates &
patches, & cannot connect the xp box to w2kpro box.

I CAN go from w2kpro box to xp box, with no difficulty.

If your connecting to the win2k computer you have to setup a user account on
the win2k computer to match the name of the user account on the xp computer.
If the xp computer has a user Joe, then user Joe must also be on the win2k
computer.(note: you dont actually have to log into the joe account or use it
at all on the win2k machine, it just needs to exist). Then when you use that
user on the xp box to connect, win2k sees it as a valid account and lets you
connect. Or enable the guest account and connect with that, although the
guest account is limited so I like to do it the other way.

What you should do is use the same username and password
on both machines
