Hello. Ive found a lot of info on this problem online and alot of ideas on
how to fix it and NOTHING has worked.
Problem: when trying to access secure sites (https, example - username and
password post data), I get an error "The page cannot be displayed"
In Mozilla, same problem except I get "connection refused when trying to
access..."
This is maddening. Some attribute it to MS SP1 and that Q update. I've
added their "hot fix" that is supposed to fix this problem, but it doesnt.
And even if this was a microsoft problem, why would it affect Mozilla?
I've done the following:
Put all my privacy and security settings as low as they go
Changed all "disables" in ActiveX settings to "prompt"
Ensured I do in fact have 128 bit cipher strength
Ran system file checker - no problems
Uninstalled and reinstalled Norton Antivirus - full system scan - fine
Uninstalled and reinstalled Mozilla and IE (using Ieradicator)
Ran Adaware - no spyware found
Did something i didn't really understand with dll's in the command prompt
go here: http://www.mess-icons.com/b/posts/91.html
Finally, just spoke with second tier support at SBC Yahoo DSL, and pretty
much she's like REFORMAT -- that patch issued by microsoft wasn't an IE
patch exclusively, but a Windows patch that affects all browsers.
Is there any way to get rid of it? Without reformatting?
Thanks in advance.
