Can't access My documents after re-install

B

Bobby

I made my personal folders private but recently had to re-install Windows
(XP SR1). Now I can't access my old "My documents" folder. I didn't encrypt
it or anything - just made it private. Is there any way of accessing this
folder?

Cheers.

Cheers. This procedure refers to the "Security" tab on the Properties
dialogue - but there isn't a security tab when I select properties for the
My documents folder. I can only see "General", "Sharing" and "Customise"
tabs. Help!

See 'how to display the security tab', on the same help page! If you are
on XP Home, rather than Pro, you'll have to do this from safe mode,
logged on as 'administrator', since you can't turn simple file sharing
off in normal mode.

It's OK - I read the help properly this time. Thanks.
