Mr. Nelson

We are not able to download drivers from websites such as
HP.com and others. As soon as we get to the FTP part of
the process, the browser times out and the site is not
found.

This happens with both IExplorer versions 5.5 and 6.0.

If you are in a intranet, your proxy settings for FTP may
not be set.
right click on IE, chose properties, click on connections
tab, then click LAN settings, if use proxy settings is
checked, go on, if not, sorry. Click the advanced button.
Whatever proxy address and port is in HTTP, put it in FTP.
OK, OK, OK. Your done.
Hope it works. Please reply with answer. Thanks

Do you have Passive FTP mode enabled?

Control Panel-->Internet Options-->Advanced Tab--> Check "Use Passive
FTP for campatibility with some firewalls
