Can't access files on LAN computer

I have two computers on an Ethernet LAN.

They each have shared folders.

From c1 I can ping c2 OK.

Also if I "view workgroup computers" on C1 I see C2.

However if I click the icon for C2 I get the message that C2 is not
available. I might not have permission to use that network resource.

I have the same username on each computer and the same password.

Is there a way of giving a username and password when connecting?

Any idea what I can do to fix this?

What can be wrong if the computers are connected but one can't access the
other?

Thanks

Active,

Do you have a firewall blocking the access? Disable it on the computer you
cannot connect to & try again. If it works then add the IP range to the safe
list

How are the the machines getting IP's?

Are they in the same workgroup? I guess they are
