I have three computers on a peer to peer network. I have two comptuers on
windows xp pro. One is with service pack 1 and the other with with no service
pack. Anyhow, my windows 95 pc cannot log on to on my my windows xp
profressional computer to access the shared data. What should i do. I went
into the network neighborhood and double click on the pc that I want to
access and it gives me access denied. Please contact your network
administrator. What should i do. I am able to connect with my other windows
xp pro machine. I need the old windows 95 pc to connect to the windows xp pro
machine so my collegue can access files from it.

Ankit,

When you start the Windows 95 computer, are you entering a userid / password
identical to one on the XP Pro computer (or have you enabled Guest on the XP Pro
computer?)?

Make sure the browser service is running on one of the WinXP computers. Control
Panel - Administrative Tools - Services. Verify that the Computer Browser, and
the TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper, services both show with Status = Started. Disable
the browser on the Win95 computer:

After checking / disabling / enabling as above, power all computers off to reset
the browser settings on each. Once ALL computers have been powered off, power
them back on.

The browser is a very possible cause of problems like yours.
