I can't access certain arbitrary websites like google.com
and yahoo.com. Has anyone encountered this before?

Locate and open file \windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts with notepad or
\windows\hosts if using W98. Is those internet sites listed here? They
should not be. If they are, you have spyware other parasites or even
viruses. By default hosts file should contain only line with "127.0.01
localhost" and some comment lines starting with #.

I am also having similar problems. I have tried all the
suggestions but no fix yet. I have reinstalled IE and
Service packs, unchecked proxy, register dlls, lsp fix,
tweaks specifies in kellys site, reinstall OS.. i mean
almost everything suggested in all the forums.
Please let me know if someone finds the solution.
Thanks.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com

and:

SpyBot-S&D
http://security.kolla.de/

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.

This parasite is expanding each day. Get the removal tools.
Here are some of the problems: Google/Yahoo/MSN redirections. Massive IE
slowdown, especially when typing text into forms.
Redirected any URLs starting without 'http://' or 'www'.

As a last resort,

Go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads.php#det
Download "Hijack This!" [freeware] or download direct (below):
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip

Unzip, double-click "HijackThis.exe" and Press "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Click: "Save Log" (generates "hijackthis.log")

Next, HijackThis | Config [button] | Misc Tools [button]
Click: Generate StartupList log [button] (generates "startuplist.txt")

Next, go to the below location:

Sign in, then copy and paste both files in your message.
