Can't Access Certain Web Sites

DangerMan

I can't access certain web sites from my home computer - a dell 8250
running Windows XP and connecting to the net via Verizon DSL. The
sites in question are:

http://washingtonpost.com

http://www.washingtonpost.com

http://tvplex.go.com/buenavista/ebertandroeper/today.html

I hooked up my old computer to the same DSL modem and connection and
was able to access the sites in question without a problem. (That
computer is running Windows 98.)

On my regular computer, I tried both IE6 and Netscape (4.8) -- neither
can access the sites above.

Any suggestions -- this is driving me crazy since the Washington Post
is (or was) my home page.

Hi dangerman,

You've checked the configuration settings in IE? Go to Control Panel >
Internet Options > Security Tab, check predetermined settings, in the
Advanced Options tab, restore predetermined values, in the Pirvacy
tab, the slider in the middle level.

Good luck.

David, make sure you accept all cookies. I block 95% of
cookies to my machine, and I can not access the washington
post any more because they require you to accept cookies
from thier web site.....

Thanks, Someone. It turned out to be something else - a small. buried
"Host" file was corrupt. As soon as I changed the name of the
directory where this host file was located, everything suddenly
worked.
