Canoscan 3200F Not recognized by Canon driver

Roger

The scanner has been installed for a couple of years and all was
working well.
Now when trying to use the scanner I receive a dialogue which says
"This Application works with Canon Scanners only!'
I get the same message whether I try to scan using the buttons on the
scanner or via the Canon software "Toolbox"

I have uninstalled the driver and the applications and re-installed
them with the same result and also updated the driver and toolbox from
the Canon site.

Any ideas? Thanks

I have not heard of one, but you may have a virus or Trojan.

Scan your computer for malware.

I have removed some malware but the problem remains.
However I have found I can use an application to obtain an image from
the scanner. But still not the buttons on the scanner or the toolbox
utility.

I remember I once had to use a small Canon "utility" called Deldrv.exe
(well, that was the filename, at least) to uninstall Canon drivers
before I could reinstall again. Try looking for 'deldrv.exe' at e.g.
canon.com.

Thanks

From the canon website the scanner I have is not on the list of
scanners for use by deldrv.exe.
When I removed the software and driver I used the uninstall utility on
the CD that came with the scanner.

The driver itself seems to be working as I have found I can use an
application to obtain an image from the scanner. But still not the
buttons on the scanner or the toolbox utility.

So for some reason the toolbox utility is not talking to the scanner,
or does not recognise the scanner as being a Canon.

If you are not afraid to edit the registry, then search for all parts of
the CanoScan driver and Tool box and delete any references.

Then reinstall from the Canon CD.
