Canon SD1100IS Not Recognized.

I just got a brand new Canon SD1100IS camera. I installed all of the included
software. I wanted to change some things using the MyCamera software on my
computer. So I connected it to my USB port, and no AutoPlay window comes up.
That's strange. So I see this little thing in the system notifications bar
near the clock, a little green rotating icon. I click it, and it says
"Searching preconfigurable driver folders for Digital Still Camera" I let the
process go, and a little while later, I see a message saying that the driver
installation failed. Canon said I should contact Microsoft for help. I want
my camera to work with my computer. Can anyone help me on this issue?

The message for your camera regarding Vista drivers is:
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/c...ategoryid=145&modelid=16347#DownloadDetailAct
"No drivers are available for this selection. This operating system may not
require a driver or, in the case of older operating systems, may no longer
be supported."

What did Canon say to that?

Can you use the SD card?

I have an internal SD reader I can use, but I can't edit the MyCamera
settings off of it. Canon says Vista should have a built in PTP driver that
will work with my camera.

Did you search on microsoft.com on "ptp driver"?

The first hit is http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms792271.aspx which
may give some hints. See if you have the inf file described in the first
link on the page.

The latest available software for x86/x64 Vista is zb611upd-en.exe on 6/5/08
at
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/c...oadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=323&modelid=16347
Is that what you have? Did you install the software before connecting the
camera?

Beyond this I cannot think of anything.
