canon scangear csu not working

trying install this on xp home edition
and at about 50% it crashes because of this
file _ins5176._mp

help please
 
Are you sure you have the latest version from the Canon website? The
ScanGear toolbox for both the 1220U and 650U run just fine on 2 of my XP Pro
PCs.

My Canon lide/1240U softwear works well in XP.. it could be that your
installation media has a problem.. does it always stop at the same point?..
if it is a cd. try cleaning it.. or alternatively, download the latest stuff
from the Canon website..
