canon pixima ip 4200- print black only

Gordon Abbot

Just bought a canon pixima ip 4200 replacing my hp.

One nice thing I could do with the hp is print with black ink only. Can
I do this with the canon? I do not want greyscale but pure black, even
with color in the page.

Nice feature when printing out web pages or drafts for newsletters.

With the ip5000 I just click greyscale, I take it you just want t
print either black or white (linear mode)

If the print driver window is the same, you could click 'fast prin
all black text', or if you want to use the photo inks you can adjus
the colour sliders to zero leaving the black slider up, I don't kno
if that will work for you

WHILE USING OEM CANON INK AND PLAIN PAPER TELL YOUR PRINTE DRIVER TO
PRINT ON PLAIN PAPER AND YOU WILL USE THE BLACK PIGMENTED INK, THE
LARGER BLACK CART. THIS IS NOT GREYSCALE.

FORGOT TO TELL YOU THAT THE PIGMENTED INK TAKES LONGER TO DRY AND TENDS
TO SMEAR IF YOU USE A YELLOW HIGHLIGHTER ON IT AFTER.

Gordon - Grayscale will print the text and any areas of the document that
are black in pure black. The colors will be printed in an area of the gray
scale that most closely resemble the equivalent tone of gray. Grayscale
doesn't mean that everything will be printed gray.

Damn that OEM ink, it takes far too long to dry.
