Canon not printing

After changing the print head - as advised by Canon support - I can no
longer print with my MPC 600 F. Even the test page is completely blank.
So, I guess, the solution is some electrical contact that does not work.

Any other idea ?

I called Canon, and support seemed to say that it was my fault that the
printer did not work. I dared to buy the original print head NOT in a
aggregated Canon shop but in an general printer shop. Canon said that
the printer system might need a reinitialising.

Did anyone here know how to reinitialise the Canon ?

Can't say what they mean. Perhaps they simply mean that you should pull the
cord out for some seconds (usually minimum 10) to clear chips inside. Then
turn it on again together with a new boot on the pc.

It somtimes helps.

What does the driver tell you about the situation?

I would suspect if it were an electrical issue that the printer would
not print at all. The printer generally will perform an electrical test
before printing and refuse to print if there is a severe problem.

I would think a more likely case would be air in the printhead. With
the printhead replaced you will need to perform some form of prime or
purge cycle to get ink into the printhead.

Was the print head in a sealed inner plastic bag..? If not then it'
not genuinely new and which Canon can not be responsible for

There should be no problems at all from unpacking the box t
installing, the only seal that you need to remove is the head from
sealed bag.. other than that it's straight forward

The only thing you could try is to wipe the PCB electrical contact
with a soft dry cloth just incase some debris could have becom
attached to the contacts on the Print head. The contacts on the hea
assembley on the cartridge holder are spring loaded. The contact
are gold plated to reduce the contact resistance so be careful not t
scratch them

The fault with the old head isn't the same fault you have with the ne
one by chance..
