Canon MP750 - waste ink pads.. How to change?

Hi folks,

New to the group but not the technology... (already know who the
trolls are at least :) )

Anyways.. I'm trying to figure out how to take apart the Canon
Multifunction MP750 inkjet and so far have come up short.

Does anyone have any images or instructions (service manual??) that
would help the process along?

Thanks in advance for any help with this one.

Cheers
:)

Unfortunately I do not have the service manual otherwise you would be welcome
to it. I can also not find it for free on the internet, and I have not had to
take one of these printers apart.
If you are prepared to pay for the manual go to www.manuals4you.com the first
CD in the Canon section includes the manual. If you ask them they will make the
manual immediately available to you for download while they send you the CD.

Tony, you are an absolute {deity} send :)

I was looking EVERYWHERE for that manual and couldn't find it at all
so your tip/link was very much appreciated.

So's you know the reason I needed this was so I could figure out how
to fit an external waste ink tank for the normal head cleaning and
priming operations to reduce the need to replace the waste ink pads.

I'll be posting a "How to..." once I've worked it out myself but for
now, thanks again... made my week :)

I am sure that several people here would like to know how to achieve the
external waste ink connection, so please do post it when you have worked it out.
Only point I would make (and I guess you already know this) is that you will
still have to reset the waste ink counter from time to time since the waste ink
full message is not triggered by the pad itself but by a counter in the printer
logic. The procedure for this is probably in the manual you have purchased.

FWIW, in my Canon i320, a tube led from the pump to the waste ink pads.
On could extend those outside the printer ans lead them it o a waste ink
recetpticle.

Hi Gary,

Yeah, I've been playing with the Epson R200, 300 series and recently
decided to see how similar the C84/86, etc... were and found much the
same sort of modification was possible there too.

I've found a few helpful images from Canon iP4000 owners that indicate
that there is at least one tube from the priming pump on those units
and given that the MP750 uses the iP4000 printer unit as it's own
printer base it provides a number of useful clues as a result.

Unfortunately, unlike the Epsons, the waste ink tube on an MP750 is
well and truly hidden underneath the printer base which means a LOT of
disassembly to get to the tube(s) and thus extend them out to an
external waste tank.

As it goes, Tony's hint got me a copy of the manual today so I'm now
doing a little more research before I get my hands dirty and figure
out how to make it all happen...

Cheers for the help anyways.. :)
