Canon I9100 color management

I have a new I9100 and am very pleased with it. Having a little
trouble getting the right colors and brightness level with Legion
papers which I used with my previous printer, an Epson 785. I am
trying to use profiles for the Legion papers and I set the profile
through Photoshop. It's not clear to me that the printer is actually
out of the loop even when I set color adjustment to none on the Canon
driver. When I do that, the color adjustment sliders don't gray out
like they did on the Epson driver and I can still make a lot of
adjustments in the printer driver. Is there any way to be sure that I
have turned off the color management functions in the Canon printer
driver?

Thanks in advance

Darned good question. I built a system for a friend several months ago and
he opted to buy a Canon photo printer rather than an Epson, whose printer
drivers I am very familiar with. I had intended to make a couple of custom
profiles for him but we kept on burning paper to print the targets I needed,
and the profiles made were clearly being influenced by the driver no matter
what setting we used. As I recall, the ICM setting is a misnomer: all it
does is save custom "driver" settings, rather than use an actual ICM//ICC
profile. In any event, he settled for using the driver as that colormatch
was good enough for him.

Call or e-mail Canon tech, and ask them. Please post the answer so those
who want to use profiles with their Canons will know.

Thanks for the input; I will talk to Canon though it might be hit or
miss if I find a tech who has the foggiest idea what I'm talking
about.

Good luck, and please post the answer.

As far as I understand, you shall set the color adjustment in the driver
to NONE. Then you shall set all the sliders to neutral. They DO affect
the result otherwise.

You shall not set - use ICM. This means that the printer becomes
an sRGB printer instead of the Canon native RGB printer. It does
not mean ICM - confusing, but that is how it is.
