Canon "Button" how to make it scan?

Canon FB630Ui USB Scanner
Windows XP pro
SG-CSU532.exe driver

There's a button on the front of the scanner.
If I go thru controlpanel/scanners/canon/events
There's a box to let me select what to do when I push the button,
but there's nothing in it and no obvious way to add anything.
No, I've not loaded any Canon applications, nor do I want to.
Irfanview works just fine for what I want to do.

The obvious default function for the scanner button when the TWAIN
driver box is open is to
"drum roll..."
scan.
Shouldn't need any enabled applications, just the TWAIN driver to
recognize the button.

This would make it a lot more convenient when you're trying to hold the
book in alignment on the scanner while groping for the mouse and trying
to find the scan icon.

Any way to make it do this?
Thanks, mike

I'm with you, I like Irfanview for it's simple functionality, and don't
want a lot of bloatware that is included with driver packages. However,
in this case, it sounds like you are going to have load at least the
control application to enable that button. Why not just load them all,
then delete everything expect the one doing the button control?
