canon BJC-5500

We have a canon BJC-5500 in a slightly unusual set up, in that it's
been modified to print onto sheets of fondant, rather than paper.
Generally the print quality is comparable ot that on paper, but
recently we have started getting white lines on the print (especially
noticeable on dark colours obviously) and, even worse, the wrong
colour printing - eg purple rather than blue andorange instead of red.
I've changed the printhead (BC-21e) and the purge unit; tried
steeping the printhead in hot water and leaving it on a blotter, but
all to no avail. any suggestions ?

Thanks

Stuart
