Hi to all,

I did install my Printer 6-7 times.
Each time it confirmed that the Printer is installed and does print a
testpage.
I also printed from Notepad, Wordpad and Word and it did print fine.

How ever when I turn the PC on the next time, I get greeted with a
message New Hardware was found, and the Install a Printer Wizard pops
up.
Needless to say that above programs can't find a Printer.

I used the latest Printer drive just downloaded.

Can you give me a hint how to tackle that problem?

If this is WinXP, the following site has instructions for correcting
this kind of problem:

Actually I don't have that one in yet! Usually changing the LPT settings in
the BIOS to EPP sorts it out... but technically the BJC-5000 and 5100 are
not compatible with XP. Some have gotten them to work, others have not.

Hi Cari

After the Wizard is finished with installing that Printer, it actually
does print corectly.
Only the next time I switch the PC on, the Printer does not work and
the Wizard wants to install it again.

It seem to me that Windows XP does not "find" the driver.
Is the a place in Regedit to specify an location where XP should look.

Take a look through Carlton MacGregor's webpage for the 5000/5100 series...
he has some good tips there.

And check that LPT port setting in the BIOS once more. (EPP not ECP)
