Cannot use the delete key for deleting a block of text

I am unable to delete a block of text in any word document. I am ablet to
delete a single character within a word document. The cut function works to
specification. I am able to use the block and delete function within
WordPad. I am able to block and delete within Excel.

I have tried to detect and repair to no avail. I have tried uninstalling
Word 2003 to no avail. I have tried uninstalling MS Office 2003 to no avail.
Does anyone know of a MS Office 2003 un-erase utility? Short of that has
anyone else experience this problem?

Hi NCL,

Check to see if you're somehow turned on the
WordPerfect settings in Tools=>Options=>General.
If so those DOS settings would be waiting for
a Y/N confirmation on each delete (status bar
at the bottom of the Word window.
