Cannot use restore point

I have had some problems with a TV tuner that I described in an
earlier message today, when I thought I would just restore the
computer to the point before I installed the new card. But when I
tried, I got a message that said, "There was an unexpected error: the
filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.
(0x8007007B). System restore will now close." Huh? Now what?? I
can't install my TV card, which is no longer recognized so I can't
uninstal it either, I can't use Media Center, which also crashes, and
now I can't restore to an earlier state!

As background, I'm using Vista Ultimate with a Pentium D at 3.0 ghz, 2
Gig ram, a geForce8500 with 512 ram video card, and LOADS of disk
space.

Any help is appreciated!
