Cannot Use Restore Function

I have tried several prior dates to restore the computer but it goes through
the whole process and announces that it cannot restore to the selected date.
Please advise. Running XP SP2.

I have had luck booting to Safe Mode with Command Prompt and running
C:\Windows\System32\Restore\rstrui.exe. That has worked for me when all
other methods had failed.
