Cannot type - documents locked

Hi,

I have a lap top and I cannot type in excel, or publisher or word.

When I open these programs, alot of the buttons like the NEW document button
for instance seem disabled.

When I try to type it reads: cannot make any modifications as document is
locked.

I tried to unlock it: going to outline etc as the help says, but this
doesn't work as it appears to be for the whole program and not a subdocument.

Any assistance would be most appreciated

Have you activated MS Office? Do you have a trial version of MS Office that
has expired?

Have you activated Word? See “OFFXP: About Office Activation and Reduced
