Cannot turn microphone on, please help.

Dear All.
I was playing about with a USB microphone yesterday with little success.
In order to stop the built in microphone from interfering I disabled it.
Now I cannot enable it. If I go into sound devices and look under the
recording tab, there are no devices to select and enable.
Can anyone help, please.

The Sound card will be a device listed in Device Manager (in the Control
Panel) Use the Action menu to 'uninstall' it, then 'scan for hardware
changes'

That is one workable method. We think our method is somewhat simpler. Right
click on the Speaker icon in the lower right Taskbar. Choose Recording
Devices. Right click in the windows and select "Show Disabled Devices."
