cannot turn firewall on

My computer gave me a message that firewall was turned off. Windows couldn't
enable from that screen, so I went through control panel to get to it but it
wont let me turn it back on. Its stuck on off. I need to know how I can get
it back on.

Are the options greyed out for the Windows Firewall? If so, edit the
registry at this location:

[HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft]
Delete the registry key "WindowsFirewall"

Then I would suggest performing a full system scan for parasites. Making
sure you update the definitions files before performing these scans. And
make sure your Anti-virus protection is fully up-to-date.
