Cannot start Word 2007

Allen

Each time I start Word 2007 is may or may not start. This problem has been
experienced since I first intalled the programme in Mar 2007 and persists
despite my having zapped my hard drive partition and reinstalled everything
from scratch several times. Just lately it has been worse than ever somtimes
failing on me over 10 times before finally opening.

I have tried right clicking the .exe file and running as administrator - all
to no effect. I have clicked the check on line box and after checking on
line (for a considerable period of time and much activity on my router) Word
2007 just closes.

I am running a Dell Dimension 9200 Quad Core with Windows Vista Ultimate
64bit and Office Professional Edition 2007.

Has anyone else had a similar experience or can anyone suggest what may be
wrong?

The usual causes are:

1. Misbehaving add-in.

2. Corrupted Normal.dotm.

3. Corrupted registry entry (usually the Data key).

This article describes how to troubleshoot the problem:

In your case, you say that you zapped the partition and started from
scratch. Was that completely from scratch? Or, did you copy an existing
Normal.dot (from an earlier version of Word) or Normal.dotm (from an
existing installation of Word 2007)? Not that doing either of those would
cause the crash per se--using existing Normal.dot? files is perfectly
kosher--unless the starting point you're using is already corrupted to begin
with.
