Hi. I have outlook 2000, and when I attempt to start I
get "Microsoft Outlook has encountered a problem and
needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

I have all the latest patches etc...

I have checked what happend in the Task Manager when I
click to open Outlook and the Lsass.exe takes a up alot
of resources for 1-2 minutes before Outlook will then
attempt to open...so the first Outlook box appears, then
I get the error message above...I have serach all the
over the net and I cannot find a solution so far...any
ideas?

Suggest you use your Office CD to remove, reboot and then
re-install Outlook. Probably the quickest solution.

I have done this. No change. I have now installed Office
2003, the same problem occurs...except now I can open it
in Safe Mode once it is failed to open. But it will only
let me send emails but not receive them. The settings are
all correct as it works on another email client. It also
keeps asking me for a password to receive even though I
have saved that in the settings. The error message is -
ERR Username/Password Mismatch perhaps
(e-mail address removed) ?"

Any ideas?
