Cannot start microsoft office outlook.MAPI32.DLL is corrupt or wrong

Hi everyone,
after trying out the beta version of office 2007, i have decided to go back
to office 2003, after 2007 became very unstable.
I uninstalled 2007, and reinstalled 2003. My problem is now when i click on
the office 2003 icon, i get the following msg

Cannot start microsoft office outlook.MAPI32.DLL is corrupt or wrong
version. This could have been caused by installing other messaging
software.Please reinstall Outlook.

I have tried the *Repair option* & the *reinstall option*, but have not had
much luck. Have also tried "system restore", but it didnt go back that far.

Although now ihave managed to get it to start in safe mode, but i dont no

Ah ha! Found the solution.

Searched my hard drive for all "mapi32" files... it came up with 4 or
5. I renamed all of them to whateverMapi32.old... then started
outlook. Outlook actually opened (hadn't before) then got a couple of
error messages in the software. Said to reinstall. So I just put the
CD in and did a "repair"... opened outlook... got another message (not
error) that asked if outlook could fix itself. Said yes, and it did.

Works flawlessly.

Hi Mate,
sounds like you have had the same problem like myself. Unfortunenately, i
have tried this many times, as you have said above, taking the repair option
and alos have tried the reinstall, but i cannot get Outlook 2003, to load
any other way but in *Safe Mode*. I have just reverted back to outlook
express, as i am at a loss on this one

I would simply add that I have twice had this problem -- two different
computers and almost two months apart -- and had to reinstall Office 2003.
