"cannot sort by this field"

I'm trying to sort by read/unread emails in Outlook 97 and
Outlook 2003. I get this error, "cannot sort by this
field". Any thoughts???

help!
 
I figured it out myself. You cannot sort that way. You
must: View>Arrange by>Current View>Unread messages in this
folder.
