I just brought my new computer home and have this problem with XP:

I shut it down normaly and it reboots in 10 minutes. I tried using the
power button on the machine and it does the same thing.

Is there a tweak I can use to keep the computer from rebooting every 10
minutes?

That's no "problem with XP". Just fancy, Windows does not run after
shutdown.

Enter the BIOS setup and disable all options like "Wake up on...".

Thank you DD. I'm not a technician. How do you enter the BIOS setup
to access the 'Wake Up Command?

Many thanks,

That depends on the BIOS. When booting, the key should show up for a
moment (mostly F1, F2 or Del). Otherwise, you may want to consult the
manual coming along with the computer.

What did the designer of your new computer say?

The "designer" (a technician who works for a computer designer), said
that "He could not duplicate the problem" after I had brought back the
coimputer for two days.... LOL.....not only did he call me a liar, but
sounded just like my auto mechanic.
