Cannot set reminders for calendar events

Bernard

I created a second calendar in Outlook 2003 which is displayed as a subfolder
of my main calendar (apparently this is necessary for it to sync both
calendars with exchange). When using the Calendar tab, I see both my main and
second calendars listed normally, and when I use the Folder list tab I see
that the second calendar is a subfolder of the first.

When I try to set an event with a reminder, I get the message:

"the reminder for XYZ will not appear because the item is not in your
calendar or tasks folder. Is this ok?"

Why is that? The second calendar was clearly created as a folder with
calendar attributes. How can I fix this?

You can't fix it, it's by design. In Outlook 2003 only 4 folders fire
reminders: Inbox, Calendar, Contacts and Tasks. No others will, the item
will only turn red when due. Outlook 2007 will do what you want, or you can
purchase an addin that will fire the reminders for you.

This is wrong. As long as the calendar folder is in the mailbox it will
"sync", since the Exchange server is the place where the mailbox is kept.
