excel 2000 dissapeared on my computer the other offices are fine this is why
i downloaded 07 office for excel - I cannot send 07 excel files if they don't
have07 excel on their computer.
I have a 2003 office disk I don't want to download it and risk it replacing
the excel trial version I have. I have files on 07 I cannot loose for excel.

You don't Excel 2003 or 2000 to save 2007 files as an earlier version which your
sendee can open with the Excel version you saved as.

I called MSFT tech support- they simply told me when I aave a file there is
an option in the drop down menu that allows me to save it from 97 - 2003
versions.

If you just "save as" it will save it in the new 07 file extenstion which is
a different extension of the older versions.

Firstly, to explain.
When you are ready to save the file do the following:
1. Click on File / Save As
2. When the Save As box appears go to the bottom of the box to the Save As
dropdown
3. Select Excel 2003 file type, or whichever you need and click OK.

This then saves this file, and only this file, in Excel 2003 format and you
can then send it to your other users.

By doing this, it has no effect on your current Excel version or your
operating system.

You can also change the default save as format by clicking on the Office
button in Excel. At the bottom you will see Excel options, click it
and the look for save and set your default. Keep in mind that by saving in
the 97-2003 format you are bound by the limitations of that format such
as the total number of rows and columns available.
