I have windows vista. Seems like this happened after I did a system update.
Here's the error message:

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'constant contact',
Account: 'mail', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Comcast no longer uses port 25, they now use port 587.

Go to:
Tools>accounts>your account>properties>advanced tab. change it there.

See the link for all the account settings:

I received the same message but I use att yahoo

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Account: 'Star Wonder Inc.', Server: 'pop.att.yahoo.com',
Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

Your problem statement is confusing because you posted in a thread about
sending problems, but your error message shows a receive problem.

'Unexpected' termination is usually caused by interference from a non-
compatible antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

Email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for reasons
explained here:
http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tutorials/email-scanning/index.htm

If no improvement after disabling email scanning, consider upgrading
to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects
from overly intrusive antivirus programs:

I too recently have the same problem as Karen. My e-mail was working fine
until about 5 days ago and am thinking it too may have started when I
installed Windows updates. I have spent 4 hours both with Hewlett Packard as
well as qwest (my isp) to no avail. I have inserted '587' as you have
suggested and now get the same error message with reference to port 587
instead of 25. I am at my wits end! I have deleted/turned off everything
possible that might be 'interfering' with sending e-mails (ie: firewalls,
Windows Live Care etc). Any more possible ideas how to fix this? I have no
problems receiving e-mails . . .

Right-click on your error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message.
