I connect with a vpn to a remote computer running windows xp home, using
another with xp home. The network places browser does not show the remote
computer, nor is it recognized in maooing by it's name. If I look the ip
address up in the connection I can use that to map shares on it to a drive,
so I know it is connected and accessible. Why doesn't it show up on the
network browser, and how can I fex it? ANyone have a clue?

Thanks for the post. I had already read this, but wans't sure if it applied.
I have a Verizon DSL connection which has NetBios over TCP disabled. My vpn
connection sits on top of this. Does the Verizon connection also have to
have the stuff enabled (as well as the LAN connection refered to in the
article)?

Following up on that last point - I should say that if I allow it on the
verizon connection then the VPN will not connect at all. So I guess the
answer is no. I have followed the article instructions, and I still don't
see the remote computer.

Thanks for the test - and the reply. We won't try that again! : )

Do you manage both computers? Or, is the remote at a business that may have
an IT help desk?
