Cannot see a server in Microsoft Windows Network

Hi, I have a win2k domain controller with many 2000 and 2003 servers. When I
got into My Network Places -> Microsoft Windows Network from any PC or server
and explore through my domain i cannot find my webserver which is running
server 2003. I can see all other PCs and servers but not the webserver. I can
access all the shared folders on this server manually ie
\\servername\sharename. This may not seem important but my veritas backup
exec will not backup this server unless it is visible in Microsoft Windows
Network. Cheers

Got WINS?

Make sure all servers and workstations point at the WINS server IP and
register in the database. The WINS server itself should point at its own IP
for WINS (twice, I believe).

Re Veritas - you may know this, but recent versions of BE require that you
run agents on remote servers if you want to back them up.....

Hi Lanwench,

I got it to appear in Microsoft Windows Network. You mentioned WINS and for
some reason the NETBIOS setting on the server was set to disable netbios over
TCP/IP. I set it to default and it now appears. Backup is working now since
it can see the server where my drive seletions are defined. The error i was
getting was unable to attach to the server drive.

Cheers for your help, appreciated, thanks also Robert for your response.

Glad you got it working. But if you enable that, you really might want to
implement WINS if you haven't done so already.
