Cannot save Free/Busy Information

HI i cannot save new appointment in calendar as using PST file in outlook
2007. it shows that "Cannot save free/busy information". I already tried
/clean free/busy and hotfix outlook 2007 utility tools.But still cannot
work.:(

please help

Did you type exactly /clean free/busy? That command is incorrectly typed and
should be:

Start > Run > outlook.exe /cleanfreebusy.

Please let me know.

Is there any error message and/or number?
Have you checked the Application Event Viewer for any Office-related errors?
If there are, please post the eventID and source.

sorry for delay, the event id = 25 Source= Outlook Description is " Cannot
save free/busy information"

Are you connected to your Exchange server locally (on the same network) or
are you working remotely from it?

Did you also mention you're using a PST? Where is your calendar located? In
your Exchange mailbox or your PST?

I am not sure where the calendar is located? I think in mailbox .. please
show me how to check whether is located and move to pst file?

Your calendar should be kept in your Exchange mailbox. I don't use Outlook
2007 but there should be a shortcut to your calendar in the Outlook bar
somewhere or you can see it if you enable your folder view. Have you
discussed your free/busy problem with your Exchange Admin? Are you the only
one having the problem or are others experiencing it? If you log into another
PC or laptop, when you open Outlook there do you have the same problem?

Hi , not only me, with my colleages also having this problem. We don't have
the Exchange Admin. That why i need to know how to save the caledar in
Exchange mail box. I could not find the options to move it. We can save the
caledar in Exchange mail box, only cannot save in PST file.

please advise

Can you please clarify the following:

You state you need to know how to save the calendar in the Exchange mailbox.
Then you state you can save the calendar in the Exchange mailbox, only cannot
save in the PST file.

Those are contradictcory statements are are confusing the issue. Can you
please rephrase your issue clearly so that I can try to picture exactly what
the scenario is? Thanks.

I am not the original author, but have the same problem. This only
started happening when I upgraded from Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2007.
I tried using the /cleanfreebusy switch but when I do so Outlook gives
me a popup stating 'Cannot clean your local free/busy information'.
Event ID is the same as stated above: Event ID 25, Source: Outlook. I
am connected to my Exchange server locally. I don't think anyone else
is having this problem - haven't heard any complaints. Outlook is
working fine and in fact calendar appointments are saving fine, but I
get the 'Cannot save free/busy information' pop-up whenever I try to
save or change an appointment. Any ideas?

I created a new profile as you suggested and I do not receive the
errors when using the new profile. HOWEVER, all of my email folders,
archive, etc. which I had with my old profile are visible only when
using the old profile. With the new profile, it's like starting over
and all folders are empty. But if I switch back to the old profile,
I'm back to the 'Cannot save free/busy information' errors.

Are you using a PST? If so, when you open Outlook using the new profile then
click File > Open and browse to your PST file to open it.

I am using a PST, which appears to be related to the problem. The new
profile I created at your suggestion seems to have created me a
new .ost file and made it my default. As long as I use that, I don't
get the 'free/busy' error, but I don't see any of my old folders,
emails, archives, etc. If I go into that new profile and point it to
my old PST, I then get everything back including the 'free/busy'
error. Likewise, if I click File > Open and browse to my PST to open
it, I get everything back including my error. So, maybe I'll just
live with the error - doesn't seem to be affecting anything. I can't
risk losing all of my folders/emails/archives and switching the
profiles around is making me nervous when they disappear and

You can delete your .ost file safely while Outlook is closed. It will
recreate when Outlook opens.

If your PST has an error, close Outlook. Do a search for scanpst.exe on your
computer. Double-click it to open it and follow the instructions. It'll ask
you to browse to your PST so it can be scanned for errors. If it finds any,
when the scan is done run it again. Once the PST is scanned completely and no
errors are found, open Outlook and use File > Open to open your PST.
Hopefully then your error messages will be gone.

Let me know if that works for you.

The only error I see is the 'Cannot save free/busy information' pop-up
when I try to add or change an appointment - doesn't appear to be a
general PST error. Regardless, I ran scanpst.exe as you suggested.
It said it found and repaired some errors; however I still get the
same error pop-up.

I'm ready to give up on this. The pop-up is more a nusiance than
anything - doesn't appear to be causing a problem that I can see. I
have found several others reporting the same symptoms when upgrading
from Outlook 2003 to 2007 (including the original poster for this
thread), so I'm convinced there is a general problem there so maybe a
good solution will eventually surface.
