Hello.
Some program messed up with the registry (I suspect it's one of the registry
monitoring programs, like Ad-Watch) and as a result of that, every time I
try to run any executable as Administrator, I get this funny message:
Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded.
There was little things I could do, but I was able to right click on My
Computer and click Manage, then created a new user with full privileges. I
logged on with this user and I can run executables. I saved
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
Settings\Zones
for both Administrator and the new user and adjusted some values in
Administrator, specially Zone 0's Flags. However, I'm still unable to run
executables from Administrator. I get the same message. Any hint? Should I
post to win2000.registry or win2000.security instead?
BTW, it seems there's a way to force the Security tab in Internet Options
(IE) to show all zones, including My Local Computer, but it needs some
registry tweak. Does anyone remember?
I'm starting to worry since there are settings and programs installed and
licensed for Administrator and that cause failures when run from another
account, etc. and at this time, that account is almost useless.
Many thanks.
