When I start up Internet explorer I am sent to a page for 'online security'.
Website www.needupdate.com. I cannot get rid of this page. My home page
setting has not changed, but it will not use that setting. I believe this
malicious software. Does anyone know how to remove this page? I am using
windows XP and Internet explorer 6

stop trying to rid yourself of this all by yourself, go here
http://www.forums.security-central.us/index.php to security central, sign up
for a free accound, get hijack this, install it following these intstructions
http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=74216 scan and save a log file,
it saves itself into not pad, DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET go back to securtiy
central, make sure that you read the posting rulaes and understand them,
then, fully explain your situation including in that what you have already
done to rid yourself of this and submit the log, someone will read the log
and advise you further, these are that pros on malware and crapware of all
kinds, and are certified on how to read you log and get you all cleanded up
again, good luck.
