Cannot Renew IP Address

I uninstalled McAfee Virus Scan and have now lost all network connectivity. I
have an Icon in the task bar that indicates "Limited or no connectivity". If
I click on "Repair" I get a message that it could not renew my IP address.

I contacted McAfee and they had me uninstall Virus Scan. When problem was
not fixed they said it was not their problem. Similar results with Zone Alarm
Pro support.

Help appreciated.

Ron,

Are all McAfee products un installed? Sure there's no firewall included
anywhere?

Next, check for LSP / Winsock problems.

I ran LSP-FIX and I can now get to the Internet. Thank you for the info.

Do you think it would be worthwhile to run WinsockFix and/or WinSock XP Fix?
Or would that tend to mess things up more.

Stop while you're ahead, Ron. Thanks for the update.

I gave up on McAfee four years ago; their products will never be used on
any computer I control. I gave up on Symantec one year ago, sort of. I will
continue to use such of System Works 2003 as are useful, but NAV is
history, and will remain so. Partly because of the bloat, partly because of
them following MSFT down the "Product Aggravation" trail. BTW, I will only
install Windows XP if I can afford to spend the money on it, and only
because so many people I know keep asking me for help, and have it. Were it
just for me, I would happily have no more to do with MSFT, and run with
Linux, or one of its variants, only. Again, mostly over "Product
Aggravation".
