cannot remove graphic from desktop display

Hello Everyone,
I have a windows XP home edition dell. There is a small square of a graphic
picture that is only about 4"X4" displayed on the desktop as part of the
display, this graphic cannot be removed no matter what picture file I try to
use to change under the display properties>desktop tab >display . This small
square of graphic stays ontop of any desktop display I use. How do I remove
this graphic. I tried to refresh with out any luck. This unit is free from
any malicious code. I used system restore and still no luck. Any suggestions
humbly welcomed. thank you.

Is this the bubble that opens up every time you click on
Start, Programs? That bubble covers the program lists and is very annoying.
How do I get rid of that?
