Cannot reinstall SP1 to different drive after SP2

FJF

I have SP1 on two of my drives and SP2 on my primary.
Encountering some problems with SP2, SO i figured I'd do
a reinstall on one of my other drives, but want to keep
the dual boot working.

When I boot to my XP upgrade CD, it tells me that there
are no other XP installs on my system, even though I have
SP2 on C, and SP1 on F: and S:.

Afraid to reinstall on my S drive for fear that I will
lose the abilty to boot to my C drive.

Any ideas on this would be appreciated. Wonder if my
only choice is to get an SP2 CD from somewhere??

not sure if this will work at all, but I remember having had similar
problems in early days with NT4 systems and sps.
the thing was that (like with sp2) at the time the sp installed a newer
NTLDR that was capable of loading older versions as well as newer (spacked)
ones.
what I did at the time (not the most elegant of solutions, granted)
temporarily saved the newer nt boot files, put the 'older' ones back on c:
(taken from another older system); did whatever I needed to do for the
'older' situation and once done, put the newer (saved files) back.
In your situation I could very well imagine this could work.
maybe this triggers your reasoning towards some solution.
