Cannot reinstall RC1 after having installed RC2

RC1 worked perfect for myself and several coworkers. We recently received RC2
and installed it however it will not support QuickBooks or Quicken, the apps
fail to install or if they appear to install these apps then do not launch at
all with no error messages, nothing!

SO: I am trying to reinstall RC1 however it always fails now. I ahve
attempted through FDISK and format deleting the partition, formattting as
fat, then letting the Vista instlall then also delete and reformat the disk
but NO GO.

THe install gets quite far, reboots but cannot finiash the insatllation,
ever. Ptooie!

Help!

Sound like a low level format may be in order but not ready to go there yet.

Did you set compatibility mode to XP and run the setup as administrator?
Quicken is working fine on RC2 for me.

Thanks, I have given up on RC2 since I had not had to jump through hoops like
this previously.

I just want to know what RC2 did to my hard drive so that I cannot reinstall
my good 5487 build now.

I was able to get back to RC1 as RC2 didn't behave well for me.
I booted from the DVD and then selected advanced - formatted the 2nd hard
drive and then proceeded with a clean install - RC1 installed without error
after this and I got my computer back to normal.

I knew immediately as RC2 set my resolution all wrong but back to RC1
everything was perfect. I was going to install within my XP hard drive but
decided to place the DVD in the drive and boot/format in this way. Not too
sure if you have tried this all I know is my revert back worked plus RC1
seems to be better than it was before.

I was tempted to try RC2 again but as I don't know what caused the issues
with RC2 I am running RC1 for the remainder unless a bug report finds a fix
which I very much doubt :(
