cannot refer to a cell in another file

dear all,
my other colleagues excel can refer to a cell "=[fileA.xlss]!sheet1:$A$2" in another cell, but mine cannot, is there any setting in excel preventing this?

if the file is not opened you must add the full path

='C:\blabla...\[fileA.xlss]'!sheet1:$A$2
