What if any antivirus programs do you have? Some of them, such as McAfee
and Norton, often cause such problems, although usually not immediately.

I have just got similar experience in the last few days! One mail stuck to
the OUT box, but could not be sent out and could not be deleted by any means.
Anyhow the mail receiving function is running well.

Can Microsoft help to provide any solution?

Try this Microsoft fix:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090
"Messages may be stuck in the Outbox when you use Windows Mail on a computer
that is running Windows Vista"

It works on other folders in addition to the Outbox.
