Cannot Receive Mail

I cannot receive mail because I continue to receive a popup asking for my
username and password. I continue filling it in but it continues to comeback
asking for it again. I cannot get past this process. However, I can send
mail.

Most likely cause; your virus scanner which integrates with Outlook. Disable
this integration and try again.
See http://www.msoutlook.info/question/20

The lack of detail in your post prevents us from giving us a more direct or
precise answer.

Include at least;
-your version of Outlook (Help-> About)
-type of mail account (POP3, IMAP, Exchange, HTTP, Outlook Connector,
Exchange, other...?)
-any errors in their exact wording as they are presented to you.

Your suggestion worked. I turned off the 'auto' protection of Norton 360 and
was able to receive mail. Thank you very much.
However, am I not left unprotected with Norton off?
My Outlook is 2007 version.

If you only disable your virus scanner's integration with Outlook but still
leave on its on-access scanner, you're still sufficiently protected.
See the link I gave you earlier.

Whether or not you are protected depends on what part of Norton 360 you
turned off. If you simply turned it all off then you are extremely
vulnerable. If you disabled the firewall, then you should be able to add
Outlook as a firewall exception to that the firewall allows Outlook's
connection requests to the servers and then turn the firewall back on. Your
description suggests to me that this may be what you wish to do, but I don't
know what the "auto protection" scope is.
