Hey there smart people
I need to borrow some intelligence. For some reason I cannot reboot my
computer [XP Pro SP2; 2.2 GHz; 512MB RAM] I have run cleanups AVG, Adaware,
spy=bot all temp files gone. I did have a worm which finally got rid of but
something must have got deleted. My computer will only start if you select
last configuration that worked every time. It will not go past the XP logo
just before your desktop loads. I cannot open Task Manager to see if
something is running or not. If I have a CD or floppy in the drive it will
not start at all either.
Any ideas out there.

I can't do that I only have the disk without SP2 will it still work?

It may, you can but try, if it does work you will need to reinstall SP2
and all the updates.

It is possible to create an XP SP2 CD yourself, have a look at:-

That's gonna be a little hard if the PC will not boot properly. Has a boot
to safe mode (F8) been tried?

Why would it be hard ? Slipsteaming has nothing to do with the boot process.

That's like saying it would be hard to change your hat because the bus you
are sitting in won't start.

Personally I think this is a bios issue or a some other hardware related
issue since the machine won't boot at all with any kind of media in any of
the drives.
