I recently upgraded to Word 2003, and now I cannot protect (lock on the
toolbar or by going into Tools, Protect Document) my old forms.

Hi =?Utf-8?B?c3VzYW5kMTk2NA==?=,

Have you ever used mail merge with any of these documents?

Ok, I figured out the inability to click on Protect form was because another
toolbar (Control toolbar) was in design mode. I have no idea how it came to
be or why it comes up with this document, but at least I know the cause.
Thanks,
Susan

Thank you very much for reporting this back!

The Design Mode could be active if you Macro security is set to "High" and the
document contains macro elements. If you ever inserted a control from the
Toolbox, for example (even if you deleted it later) this would be the case.
