Cannot play movies from web page

Hi there,
When I attempt to play a movie file directly from a web page, I get a "File
Download" prompt asking "Do you want to save this file?"
I am offered no choice to open/play the file -- which I want to do.
Otherwise, Windows Media player-10 works perfectly.

Some files are that way, with no option to open, until after you already downloaded and saved it. Streaming video is what usually opens on the fly. (Note I said 'usually').

There's one big 'BUT!'
On my older computer the files open with a click!
The new computer is as I described.

Differences:
Older computer Win XP service pack 2--AVG virus.
New computer WinXP w/Med Ctr2005--McAfee.

How do you figure that?

Some files are that way, with no option to open, until after you already

It might depend on the file associations. Login with admin rights and go
into WMP and select all file types and hit ok. See if this helps.

Nope.
All file types are selected. Still cant play -- only receive a prompt to
open (download).
