Cannot play clips from timeline

When I copy clips to the timeline and attempt to playback from the timeline,
the clip does not play. Cips play fine in the collection window. Was
playing OK several months ago. Older projects will play clips from timeline
but they no longer play smoothly. I am using Media Center Edition 2005 with
SP2. Copied same project to another XP2 machine and works fine.

Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. It was a codec. Try this: go
into the Options on the Tool menu and click the compatibility tab and
uncheck all of them. Click ok and exit out of MM. Open it up again and try
to play the file from the timeline and see if it works. If that doesn't
work, it could be a problem with file, especially if it's a mpeg file. MM
has a problem with those sometimes. It seems to work better with AVI amd
WMV files.
