Seems like forever getting this issue resolved. Anyone
have a workaround or an idea when there will be a fix for
this?

Thanks.

"Cannot Open Volume for Direct Access" Error Message When
Chkdsk Runs at Startup

Hello, I have had this problem myself and I fixed it
without the help of anyone just by analizing and thinking
of all the possible problems and solutions other than
their being a whole in the proggie, ok first of all there
could be the reason they say the dskchk gives the error
message not opening the volume, glitch in the dskchk, or
it could be something you did unintentionally, like for
instance, if you have a good spyware/adware/ and/or pest
scanner, you could have your scanners on so deep that
they actually mistake system dll. files for keyloggers,
and also it can mistake system registry files for
adaware, malware and such, either way, which ever problem
it is we agree it is not going to fix your dskchk,
however, the normal solution when you think you may have
lost precious data, I thought of right away, just think
back to the last time you ran dskchk and it worked
properly, make sure you have all of your data you want
saved, saved, then go into your help and support and
perform a system restore only as far back to the day you
did your last dskchk or even a few days there after may
work (I do mine once a week in case of a problem like
this so I won`t have to restore too far back) you may
have to reinstall newly installed programs that were
installed after the date of your restore will be,
hopefully your last dskchk was`nt that long ago, just
make sure before you do it, again, I can not stress this
enough, save any data that is important to you and save
any program installs of newly installed programs to a
disc like a CD or floppy, then restore away, it should
get it back into working condition, I myself did not have
the patience nor did I want to wait for the screen of
death while microsoft figures it out, I can never seem to
get help directly from them through e-mail and I`m not
going to pay for something that I can possibly when calm
and thought out, decipher for myself. I hope this has
helped you and not confused you or frustated you, please
just read it carefully, I`m sure you`ve probably done a
partial restore before, if not, it`s no big deal, very
easy and if it does`nt fix your problem you can always go
back, also remember if you decide you don`t want to undo
the restore and keep it that way because it does bring
back a working dskchk as it has for me, then you can also
save disk space by doing a clean up and then when the box
for the results comes up you can choose other options and
remove all but the latest system restore. I could not
rest until I helped you, because I saw your post while I
was looking for some answers myself and found nothing but
the reffernce to article 823439, which does nothing for
you now but tell you that you have to wait until
microsoft looks into fixing it, I`m sure they are very
swamped with work and so busy that it will take them a
while to figure out. Sorry if my explanation is too long
but I wanted to make sure you could see a detailed
explanation of what to do as that is hard to fine and is
harder to do that telling by voice or phone. Good luck!
Blessed be.-Piper
